We are very proud that James has won many awards at the prestigious Goldsmiths Craft & Design Council Awards. Here are a few examples....

Sterling Silver Tigers Eye Crown

After entering his crown into the Goldsmiths Craft & Design Council Awards James won the top award ‘Silver’ in the Junior category.

Damocles

James won the Gold Award in the Junior Craft category; the Gold Award in the Junior section of the Polishing category; the Bronze Award for Setting; and the Special Award (presented for the first time this year) for ‘an appropriate design that demonstrates good visual and practical use of 999.9 purity gold and/or silver’.

James made a 16" long silver and gold plate dagger - named 'Silver Damocles" - featuring a black ruthenium leopards' head set with stones. Each of the 393 stones were set by hand and the whole dagger took several hundred hours to make over ten months. The stunning piece is now on display at Baird & Co Merchants Showroom in London.

 

 

Cut Throat Razor Set

James Kydd won gold in 3 awards at the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council Awards 2016. The Junior Silversmith; The Paul Podolsky Award for the young craftsman with the most potential; The Theo Fennell Award for Master and Apprentice, won jointly with his father. James made a five-sided silver box containing five intricately designed and decorated cut throat razors.

 

 

Sterling silver and gold plated Gentleman’s Box

James Kydd’s 2018 entry was a sterling silver and gold plated Gentleman’s Box consisting of chain and swivel stone set cufflinks and studs.  We are delighted to say he won 5 awards this year; Gold in Junior Small Workers, Gold in Paul Podolsky, Silver in Junior Silversmith and Bronze in Setting & Polishing.

 

 

James Kydd – Betrothal Suite

James Kydd finishes his masterpiece ending his 5 year apprenticeship.  Winning gold and two silver awards at the Goldsmiths Craft & Design Council 2019, bringing his total to 9 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze awards.
